Lead Stop Encapsulating Compound is a thick
elastomeric coating that is made to be a long
lasting barrier over lead based paint.
When applied according to directions, Lead Stop
provides a protective barrier coat that seals,
blocks in lead that is contained in old lead based
paints on previously painted surfaces.
Lead Stop has earned a seal of approval for lead
abatement from D.L. Litter Laboratories and the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts – Department of
Public Health Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention
Program.
Lead Stop protects the existing painted surfaces
from further deterioration and has been
specifically formulated to resist cracking from
impact, surface movement and age for long term
protection.
Application Instructions
For encapsulation of lead-paint on walls,
ceilings, trim and other surfaces. Use brush,
roller or other airless piston-type spray
equipment with tip size 0.015-0.023 inches (e.g.,
Graco Ultra 1000 Electronic Sprayer).
Apply Lead Stop at a rate of 125 square feet per
gallon. Apply second coat if greater dry film
thickness is desired. A 14 mil wet application
will yield a nominal 6 mil dry film thickness.
The coating should dry to the touch in 4 to 6
hours. At that time a second coat can be applied
if necessary. Further curing takes up to 24 hours.
Prior to application inspect all surfaces to
insure they are clean, dry and free of all foreign
matter including dust, grease, oil, mildew, glue
size, calcimine, wax, soap, loose paint, etc.
Patch and repair irregularities in surfaces with
prepared vinyl patch or appropriate patching
compound. Do not apply the product when
temperatures are below 50 degrees F.
